THE FETH COURSE  (page 3 of 4)

In years one and two The FETH Course aims to teach essential life, social and  basic skills through a horse-based curriculum within four general areas.

 

YEARS ONE AND TWO

1.    Riding and Horsecare including flatwork, jumping, vaulting, lungeing, hacking, roadwork, stable management and routine horsecare.

 

2.    Self-care and Personal Development including personal hygiene routines, basic health awareness, sex education, community awareness, healthy eating and self awareness.

 

 

3.    Independent Living Skills including cooking, independent travel, shopping, routine domestic tasks, laundry, community outings, gardening, sports, swimming and leisure activities.

 

4.    Basic Skills including communication, speaking, listening, reading, writing, numeracy, money management and time awareness.

 

Where relevant, students can achieve accreditation through the following awards:

  •     National Vocational  Qualifications in Horsecare (Levels One and Two)

  •     British Horse Society Stage Examinations

  •     Mencap Essential Skills Award

  •     City and Guilds Wordwise

  •     City and Guilds Numberwise

 

Students can also achieve FCRT Internal Awards.
