DONATING TO THE FCRT

As a Registered Charity The FCRT is totally dependent on charitable giving for all its capital funding. This page suggests how you can help!

During the thirty one years since The FCRT was founded it has been supported by an ever growing band of friends both near and far. To each and every one of them we offer our inestimable  thanks.

As a registered charity FCRT entirely depends on charitable giving to support any capital projects. During the coming year - 2008 - £77,000 is needed for the development of an independence training unit for our third year Further Education Through Horsemastership (FETH) course students and a further £100,000 to extend and modernise the tack room - a key 'classroom' area for first and second year FETH Course students.

Please go to www.justgiving.com/fortunecentre

and join the band of fund raisers. Thank you!

THINKING OF MAKING A DONATION?

TOP TIPS TO ENHANCE YOUR GIVING AT NO EXTRA COST!

  • Why not encourage your friends, family and work colleagues to change their internet search engine to everyclick.com. It won’t cost you a penny and it is easy to switch, simply click on the link from our website or log onto www.justclick.com and find out how to raise money while you surf!

  • Another easy way to donate is by visiting www.justgiving.com/fortunecentre you can make a donation by debit or credit card and support one of our superb fundraisers like Charlotte Waugh running the London Marathon in April 2008.  If you are a UK taxpayer 22% will automatically be added to your donation.

If you are inspired by Charlotte and would like to organise your own challenge or event to raise money on behalf of The Fortune Centre why not set up your own fundraising page to promote your event.

Direct all your sponsors to the Just Giving website and let Just Giving manage the collecting for you including the gift aid.  It takes some of the hard work out of collecting and counting sponsorship money, leaving you free to organise your event, get into training and make your event a success.

  • If you are a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid offers a simple way to increase the value of your gift by allowing us to reclaim the tax on your gift.  All you have to do is complete a Gift Aid Declaration Form (click to download) and send it to us along with your donation, we do the rest.

For every £10 that you donate using gift aid we can reclaim £2.82 tax.If you are a higher rate taxpayer, you can claim the difference between the higher rate at 40% and the basic rate at 22% on the total gross value of your donation to us.

So if you are a higher rate taxpayer and donate £100 we reclaim £28.20 gift aid making the gross value of your donation to us £128.20, you can then claim higher rate relief of £23.08 (18%) on your self assessment return.

  • Inheritance tax planning – Did you know that if you leave a gift to a UK charity in your will the value of the gift will be deducted from the value of your estate before inheritance tax is worked out.

Gifts made to a UK charity in the seven years prior to your death are also covered by the same exemption from inheritance tax.

  • The Government wants to encourage individuals and businesses to give more to charities and so offers a range of tax incentives (income tax, corporation tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax) which help you, the charities concerned or both.  Details are available on HM Revenue & Customs website www.hmrc.gov.uk/charities and www.direct.gov.uk or speak to your Accountant or Financial Advisor on how to make tax efficient donations to charity.
